Partnership With Backwoods Energy Services

Backwoods Energy Services recently launched the Home Ownership Program for Indigenous Employees, a unique initiative designed to guide first time home buyers through the purchase process and provide financial support. Backwoods will match Indigenous employees’ RRSP savings to a maximum of $10,000 per employee and offer an additional $2,000 per year of employment to a maximum of $10,000.

Backwoods established a preferred partnership with First Nations Bank of Canada (FNBC), Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation and Capital Region Housing to assist in developing the program. FNBC Enoch branch staff will also assist employees with purchasing RRSP savings and provide guidance through the process of attaining home ownership.

“First Nations Bank of Canada remains focused on meeting the financial needs and services required of Indigenous communities to enhance the lives of their members,” said Leigh Solomon, VP Retail Banking, First Nations Bank of Canada. “With this project being consistent with that, we are proud to play a role in making this happen.”

At FNBC we’re very proud to work with a business dedicated to building economic opportunities for Indigenous communities that will enhance the lives of their members by creating sustainable futures.
